Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information the YT-Kit — Monetization Checker browser extension ("the extension", "we", "us") collects, how it is used, and your choices. We built the extension to be privacy-first: your data stays on your own device.
1. Information we collect
The extension requires you to sign in with your Google account to enable the monetization-check feature. When you sign in, Google provides us with:
- Your email address
- Your basic profile (name and profile picture)
- Your Google account identifier (the OpenID "sub" value)
We also generate local usage counters — the number of channels and videos you check, grouped by day — to display your own statistics inside the extension popup.
2. How your information is used
- The Google email, profile, and account ID are used solely to authenticate you and to identify your session so the checking feature can be unlocked.
- Usage counters are used only to show your personal statistics inside the extension.
- We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's single function.
3. Where your data is stored
All data — your sign-in session and usage counters — is stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. It stays on your device.
The extension does not operate any backend server and does not upload, sync, sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone. There is no third-party analytics or tracking of any kind.
4. Network requests
The only external network requests the extension makes are:
- To Google's own authentication endpoints (
googleapis.com,oauth2.googleapis.com) to sign you in, read your basic profile, and sign you out. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. - Read-only access to the YouTube pages you are already viewing, to compute the monetization status shown on the page. No data from those pages is collected or transmitted anywhere.
5. Data retention and your choices
- Your session is kept locally until you sign out or uninstall the extension, at which point it is removed from your device.
- Signing out also revokes the Google access token.
- You can clear all local data at any time by removing the extension from Chrome.
6. Children's privacy
The extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
